Gather is slow because it wants to be…it has no place to go and so it’s not going to get there any time soon. Gather is the only social media site which makes improvements so it can operate at a more leisurely pace. If the so-called improvements jack up your older articles “WHATEVER!” It’s not like nose hairs are going to trim themselves!
Gather is slow because life is too short…people should not only smell the roses but also the fertilizer that helps them grow. Gather is trying…really is trying…but it's so tired…and it’s bed looks so good...good night!

Genre Shorties Prompt -- Week 144 by the Fabulous Tracy Fabre
Many of us complain about Gather's astonishing slowness. It's one of the reasons I don't get here as often as I used to: I can't! Entire civilizations rise and fall while waiting for pages to load. The rest of the 'net buzzes along happily but using Gather is akin to trying out your old 14.4K modem for "old times' sake."
So let's have some posts which explain scientifically, logically, farcically, fantastically or flat-out ridiculously WHY Gather is slow.
(My money's on the hamsters refusing to keep using their wheels to power the mainframe until they get a raise.)
What's your 100-or-fewer-words theory?
