This is a continuation of an earlier articles, LIFE. JUST. HAPPENS. and Decisions, Decisions...
If you've been following the changes taking place in my life, then you know I'll be writing a novel in the month of November. I finally decided on the subject matter; the life (and death) of a car salesman. I spent two years in the business and from that two years I have a ton of humorous experiences, a wealth of knowledge that debunks the typical myths of car sales and one helluvah survival story. I will be fictionalizing the story to protect the guilty and embarrassed. I had already outlined a 13-week treatment for a sitcom (which, quite honestly, could only be shown on Cinemax or Showtime), so I figure this is as good a jump off point as any for a novel that needs to hit 50,000 words in 30 days.
Here's how my gather friends can help: I'd like to know, if you had a really good friend in the car business, one you know you can trust, what questions would you want answered?
This is gonna get interesting!

Good luck with NaNoWriMo. I'm doing it too. I did it last year...finished by day 21!
But the comments others gave were quite intresting..
I have family previously in the car business for more than 40 years....
I'm a sociologist by training. The answer to many of the above questions: people act in the way the situation they are put into pressures them to act. Sales managers are hired to bump grosses, and that's what they're expected to do. Car salesmen usually aren't allowed to set the price without the manager (the most senior ones can) because they would give the car away if they could. So the manager is there to get them to bump customers in ways they wouldn't if left to themselves.
At least this was my experience one summer back in 1986.
