I'm posting this for those out there that have yet to brave the manuscript submission process. Not all rejection letters are cruel! I was very proud to have received the following rejection letter from Agent Jacky Sachs (www.bookends-inc.com) regarding my novel Dead Housewives.  The steps I completed in the submission process were: query (accepted), proposal (accepted), complete manuscript (not accepted).  If you have any questions about the submission process that I have experienced thus far, I'll do my best to answer.  Good luck to all of you trying to publish! Happy writing!
           Sincerely,

Dear Mrs. Callaway-Higgins,
Thank you for your submission. You have an interesting and engaging proposal. However, it is not right for me and I have decided to pass on representation.
Due to a full client list, I feel I must truly fall in love with a project to take it on. While your work has a great deal to recommend it, I do not feel strongly enough about it to be its best advocate. Good luck and keep trying.
Thank you for considering BookEnds.
Sincerely,
Jacky Sach

The nicest rejection I got was a phone call from a magazine telling me they really pondered on one of my poems but felt it didn't suit their magazine. He wanted to make sure I continued to re-submit. I proudly shared that rejection.
